..another movie this weekend - watched bhoothnath yesterday. I was not much interested yet went for it considering Amitabh and SRK both were there in the cast ! Movie does not start well. There were a few unnecessary scenes and inappropriate dialogues initially. Movie gains momentum when Amitabh appears. He never appeared fearsome as he was supposed to, in few scenes though his comic timing with the kid (Aman) was good. There were enough funny scenes in the first half which make you smile, to say the least. Transformation from a dreaded 'Bhoothnath' to emotional one, shown in the first half is good.

Second half is a different genre altogether. Comedy seemed to be lost and director/writer turned the movie emotional. Well ! I don't want to be harsh yet again but teary emotions of a 'Bhoot' may seem funny at times. Those who like seriousness will like this part too but such a drastic change suddenly seemed inappropriate to me. Movie can not be classified into one genre. It is comedy in the first half and 'tragedy' in the other. It can not even be said a kids' movie. They will never understand the heavy emotions portrayed in the second half. Movie has tried to address innocence of children, emothions of 'Bhoot', parental love and ignorance of elders all at the same time.

Shahrukh in his short appearance seemed to be warming up for his next movie. He was not at his best. Aman was good enough. Rajpal Yadav and Priyanshu Chaterjee have not been given enough time on screen. They have played their part well. But Juhi's charm has been lost with time. Her performance is only decent. Amitabh is excellent after initial few scenes (his entry). Overall, the script and story were okay. Performances by supporting actors could have been better. Editing was not up to the mark. direction was okay. You may feel lost if you watch it in theater. So just buy a CD or DVD and enjoy it. You may appreciate the effort.
